EMPA.

Empa is a Swiss federal interdisciplinary research institute that conducts cutting-edge materials and technology research. The Architectured Materials group at the Laboratory for Mechanics of Materials and Nanostructures focuses on the design, synthesis, and multiscale analysis of architectured and hierarchical materials through combined experimental and modelling approaches. Its mission: to develop materials and technologies for a sustainable future. Empa’s R&D activities link applications-oriented research to the practical implementation of new ideas in the areas of nanostructured, “smart” materials and surfaces, as well as biotechnology and medical technology. As a result, Empa provides its partners from the industry with customized services and solutions that not only enhance their innovative edge and competitiveness, but also help to improve the quality of life for the public at large. Through an efficient technology transfer Empa is turning research results into marketable innovations.
